DENR PENRO Marinduque Joins the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration

BOAC, MARINDUQUE — The DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Marinduque actively joined the 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) throughout March, reaffirming its commitment to promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and an inclusive workplace and community.

Anchored on the recurring theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” and the 2026 sub-theme “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, the celebration highlighted the strength, leadership, contributions, and empowerment of women while encouraging the participation of all sectors in advancing gender equality.

Promoting Gender Equality through Advocacy

As part of the celebration, DENR PENRO Marinduque reproduced and distributed 122 GAD Advocacy T-shirts to employees and participants. The shirts carried the sub-theme “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!” symbolizing support for women’s leadership, empowerment, and equal opportunities. The distribution reached 44 female, 76 male, and 2 LGBTQIA+ recipients.

The office also participated in #PurpleWednesday and #PurpleYourIcon, encouraging employees to wear purple every Wednesday of March and decorate their respective work areas in support of women’s empowerment and gender equality.

Women’s Bazaar: Supporting Women Entrepreneurs

One of the highlights of the celebration was the three-day Women’s Bazaar held on March 2–4, 2026 in front of the PENRO Marinduque Office. Led by OIC–PENR Officer Cesar P. Odi, Chairperson of the PENRO Marinduque Gender and Development Focal Point System (GADFPS), the activity provided a venue for women entrepreneurs to showcase their local products and cuisines.

The bazaar brought together government and non-government partners, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Provincial Agriculture Office, Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Café Benevolo, and 4900 Food Hub. A total of 128 internal and external clients participated in the activity, composed of 54 men, 68 women, and 6 members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Through the activity, PENRO Marinduque not only celebrated women’s contributions to society but also supported local entrepreneurship and promoted inclusive economic opportunities.
