On March 11, 2026, PENRO Marinduque celebrated International Women’s Day through the “Serbisyo Para Kay Juana at Juan” activity held at the PENRO Conference Hall.
The activity provided employees with free wellness and health-related services, including manicure, pedicure, and dental services, through the support of invited service providers. It aimed to recognize the valuable contributions of women while promoting self-care, wellness, appreciation, and equality in the workplace.
A total of 33 employees availed of the free manicure and pedicure services, while 28 employees benefited from the free dental services. Certificates of Appreciation were also awarded to the service providers in recognition of their valuable contribution to the celebration.
Strengthening Gender-Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
As part of the continuing advocacy for gender-responsive governance, PENRO Marinduque conducted a Lecture on Gender-Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) on March 16, 2026.
The lecture was facilitated by Ms. Shiela Marie S. Chua of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Boac, Marinduque. The discussion emphasized the importance of integrating gender perspectives into disaster preparedness, response, recovery, and rehabilitation.
The participants were also reminded that disasters affect individuals differently and that the needs and vulnerabilities of women, men, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities must be considered in disaster planning and decision-making. The activity further highlighted the important role of women in strengthening community resilience.
A Continuing Commitment to Gender Equality
The series of activities conducted by DENR PENRO Marinduque demonstrates the office’s continuing commitment to mainstreaming Gender and Development (GAD) in its programs, activities, and workplace initiatives.
Through advocacy, women-centered activities, support for local entrepreneurs, wellness initiatives, and gender-responsive learning activities, PENRO Marinduque continues to foster an environment where women and men are valued equally and where everyone is encouraged to participate in advancing gender equality and an inclusive society.
